HAVING TROUBLE DELETING FILES!!! HELP!!!

I've been having a real problem with my documents folder where all my files are kept? Everytime I try to delete a file the system sends me a copy---no matter how many folders I try to delete, this darn thing keeps giving me copies of the ones I just got rid of! What the heck am I doing wrong???

Try deleting the folders in safe-mode.

Hi Debbie Seledic,

You should use Unlocker at http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Unlocker.shtml or MoveonBoot http://www.gibinsoft.net/ for deleting files.

I've been having trouble for a while now and have just about given up hope of trying to fix it. This is happening in my Documents folder. I have a lot of games and puzzle additions that I'm trying to move to floppys or cds but every time I move or copy one to another folder I go to delete the old one and I get a copy of the file that I just deleted appearing in my documents list! Do you know why this is happening? I've got a Dell gamers computer--top of the line and it's only a few months old.

Could you describe exactly what your process is to move or delete files or folders is?  Maybe abrandoned's link will give you a program that solves the problem, but I just wonder if it's something you're doing that is easily corrected. Also just want to be sure you have all the latest Windows updates and AV/Spyware updates and have run recent scans.

That's pretty bizarre, makes me think there is something else going on with your computer processes. 1. Not familiar with spyware nuker (love the name), but is it updated and have you run a full scan? 2. Antivirus program??? Updated and have you run a full scan? 3. If you're going to delete the original file anyway have you tried Cutting and Pasting the file?

I've tried everything I can think of. I've even watched my screen and can see the copies of these files popping back on even as I'm highlighting them for removal! I'm click-clicking away and the darn copies are coming as I'm clicking! Is this machine taking over??

Sure. All I've been doing is to copy the file onto something or send it somewhere else and when I go to delete the original, within a minute or so my system sends me an exact copy of it back to my documents file---right where I don't want it to be. That's it. I'm not a computer whiz like most of you must be (darn it!) but I sure wish I could save myself the embarrasment of not knowing how to operate the system I've got! I use Spyware Nuker and some other things but I don't think that they are the problem. I think it's probably just me!

It certainly has taken over.  What kind of AV program are you running?

Test.

Using Explorer, Right Click a file and choose Delete. Does that create a copy?

Interesting--same thing happened to me--I removed McAfee from my system--it appeared be a collision with software--also lost my address book in process. Something to think about.
