The blue screen is what is known as The Blue Screen of Death, meaning something has seriously gone wrong and Windows has shut itself down to avoid damage.

From the error you get, it looks like the file olecli32.dll could be corrupt. First I would try rebooting back into Windows, login and you should get a message saying "You system has recovered from a serious error" with a Send Report button. Click this and it will open the Microsoft website telling you what exactly caused the error and possible solutions to fix it. Follow these and see if it works.

Cassy33,

To replace the corrupted file, boot to Recovery Console (see the instructions under "To run the Recovery Console from the Windows XP startup disks or the Windows XP CD-ROM, follow these steps:" here.

At the command prompt enter the following, substituting the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive for X:

expand x:\i386\olecli32.dl_ c:\windows\system32 and press .

There is a space after dl_ and before c:.

@Orry Verducci,

Thank you so much for responding to my message.  I tried to reboot my system serveral times, the Windows XP screen appears, then the blue screen :smileymad:and then system locks up again.  I have ran a  diagnostic test on my system, it's not a hardware problem, it a software problem.

:womansad:  I really want my system back up and running, if you know anything else I can try, please let know.

Thx.

Thank you for the instructions.  I tried following your instructions, but I was unable to because, when I start my computer up, the  Windows XP windows comes up, then the blue screen appears and I'm able to do anything once that screen appears with the same message, it seems like my keyboard locks-up also....:womansad:

What's wrong with my system, can anyone assist me????
Everything I have tried doesn't work....

Then you didn't follow the instructions, you need to boot to the XP CD, therefore, the Windows XP window won't come up...

Okay, I'm not a advance user....How do I boot to the XP CD????

Here are the steps that I did, when I tried to boot the system.

1. Turned on the system
2. Inserted the "Reinstallation CD Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" into the CD-ROM drive
3. The Windows XP window appeared
4. Then the Blue Screen with the error message.

The system will not allow me to go farther then the blue screen..

Where did I go wrong?????

The directions that Denny gave you provide two options.  In your steps above, add 1.5 - Hit F2 to enter BIOS, make the CD rom the first boot device.
