Help! cannot get flash player to work on new system!

My kids love playing those flash games out there but I cannot get the flash player working properly. It just displays as a blank portion of the web page. When I right click the control in the browser, I get "Movie not loaded..." and an option "About Flash Player 9"

It all started when I uninstalled an application; AOL I think. I was then requested to install the control upon accessing a website. I go through the whole process and just get a blank area.

Can anyone suggest a solution or idea? My kids are dying to use my new dell for games but without flash....

I read online it might have something to do with registry permissions but I am in the administrators group on my machine. shouldnt that be enough?

you could try uninstalling flashplayer and then reinstalling it.. if you want to do that, look at adobe flashplayer's "support" for information about how to uninstall flashplayer.. (you have to download and run an uninstaller).. here is the webpage for "uninstalling" flash player:

also, you could check internet explorer's "security" settings.. if you have "high" security in IE's "internet zone" that could prevent activex controls (like flashplayer) from running..

something else that could cause a problem would be if flashplayer's "universal storage" was set to "zero" when some storage was needed in order for flashplayer to run.. to check to see if you have flashplayer's "universal storage" set to "zero", go to flash player's "settings manager".. that is a webpage at the adobe website.. here is the link for it:
