HELP error message

my computer has a error message that i'm not sure what it means and what it does. it says the operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer.

Details, more details! What PC and version of Windows? When does it say this? What were you trying to do when it said that? Do you have Administrator rights on this machine? etc, etc, etc. Ron

i have windows xp home edition it pops up when i click on the date and time and when i try to get on control panel and i do have rights

my virus protection ran out about two weeks ago and i have to buy it again but i would like to find something that would last longer than a year
