you could try installing the program over itself (that means installing the program even though it is already installed), and then see if you can then run the uninstall for the programs.. also, look in the viruscan programs help files to see if there are instructions for uninstalling the program..

you could go to "support" at the mcafee website.. there are instructions there for manually uninstalling the program.. or, you could go to the mcafee support forum.. there are some folks there who will try to help you, and will have some possibly helpful informatiion..

another alternative is to wipe the harddrive and to do a clean reinstall of win xp et al.. there are instructions for that in dell support/solutions/reinstall guide. you need to have a firewall running before reconnecting to the internet after doing a clean reinstall of win xp...
