HELP ME PLEASE computer crashed

I am a teacher and my computer at school has crashed.  It had a few symptoms before it crashed.  I was having a hard time getting my Dimension 4400 to shut down and turn on.  The computer would just blank out and the monitor would say NO SIGNAL.  Well now the computer will not turn on or off at all.  When you go to turn it on the CPU beeps a couple of times and seems to boot up.  The monitor, however, continues to say no signal.  Anyone have a clue what is going on?  I can't seem to get any of the computer techs at my school to even look at the computer and my students are getting pretty upset now.   Thanks

K just to give you some more info about the computer.  It is a Dimension 4400, the OS is WinXp, and it is on a network.  I have tried many times to reset the computer by unplugging the power.  That has basically done nothing.  I have unplugged every devices from the CPU and reconnected them.  That has not worked either.  I know a lot about computers just nothing about Dells.  I am sure they can't be that different from other systems.  After talking to my dad, he seems to think that the keyboard is bad.  Since i can't check that until Monday I am open to any other suggestions.  Thank you!

This sounds like hardware failing.

Try swapping the monitor with another computer. Try the monitor with the other computer and the computer with another monitor.

That will rule out the monitor as being faulty.

If that does not work I would open the case of the computer and make sure that all the cables are fully home (do turn off the computer first - and earth yourself for static) and reseat the memory chips and the video and sound cards.

If that does not work you are into looking at parts of the machine that may have failed.

At that point post a new post in the Dimension hardware forum and someone there will advise you.

Best of luck.

what happened when the computer crashed did it just freeze up or shut down ? what are the specs on the computer ... Pentium 3 , 4 .. how many MB or Ram and what Operating system i am guessing NT or 2000 pro if it is in a school. ok well if there is No Signal from the monitor try to disconnect and reconnect the cable (may seem stupid but even doing this then restarting the computer may help) ... I or anyone else on this forum could probrably help as long as u give some more info to what happened when i crashed... and if it at least seems to boot up and beeps that is a very good sign ! e-mail me directly at Gt2020Mb55@aol.com if u want some help or somebody else on the forum will respond soon

Hi. I have a Dell Inspiron 5100 and I stupidly deleted hotfix not knowing what it was. Now my computer wont start. I get a message that says "The session manager initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000034 (0x00000000 0x000000000. The system has been shut down." What Should I do? I also was wondering how to clear my hard drive completely so I have to reinstall all the original programs.
