Hi, If you have Win 7, you can locate the program in "My Programs", then Right Click it, then click Create shortcut. Also check you do not have a virus.

Thank you for the response. I tried to right click on it in the start menu under recent excel file, but still am getting the same error message....stating Document cannot be found check spelling, file name, verify location. Make sure that the file has not been, renamed, moved or deleted. Any other thoughts? I have even tried restoring back to an earlier date and can see for a split second all the icons and then some disappear.
Thank you again for your response!

There is currently some malware that does this. What is your operating system? What is the name of the "print workshop" that you installed? Have you run any security scans?

The System is Windows 7 Home premium. The software is Print Workshop limited edition 2003 and I have not run any security scans. It appears to only have affected my excel files that I had saved only to the desktop. I can still see the file names in my start menu/ excel/ then most recent but cannot open as it states the error shortcut message listed above. I hope there is an answer. Thank you!!

According to my research that particular Print Workshop software is compatible with:
Microsoft Windows 98 , Microsoft Windows XP , Microsoft Windows 2000 , Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition
You may need to uninstall it and use a similar more updated program. Unfortunately, System Restore did not work, and Win 7 Home Premium does not have the option to run XP Mode, or I'd suggest that.

I had deleted it from the desktop and uninstalled the program, However the excel desktop files have not returned. I am not sure if in some how removing it is what possibly changed a setting in excel that would not allow me to see or open the desktop shortcut excel files I had saved. Any thoughts???? I really need to recover the lost files. Thanks!!

try searching for your files first over your drives with KrojamSoft FilesSearch to find lost files… it worked for me….. :-)
