Help!! Need Help to Completely Uninstall McAfee Security Software

I brought an Inspiron 700m two months ago and now my 90 days subscription to McAfee Internet Security has expired. But I decided to use ZoneAlarm Internet Security instead of subscribing to McAfee. I have been informed that certain applications such as Norton and McAfee required more than the method of "start-settings-control panel - add/remove programs" to completely uninstall them from the hard drive. Can anyone help me find the methods to completely uninstall the McAfee Internet Security software from the hard drive.

Just use Add/Remove Programs. Should work fine. McAfee does not make the wholesale changes that Symantec programs do.

to answer your question in this forum too:

Description

The McAfee Internet Security Suite 7 installs each program as a separate item in the Windows Control Panel Add/Remove Programs applet. Therefore, to uninstall the entire suite, it will be necessary to uninstall each of the individual programs.
Note: The McAfee SecurityCenter must be uninstalled last, since it will not remove if any of the other McAfee programs are detected.

  1. Click on Start.
  2. Click on Settings (skip this step if you are running Windows XP).
  3. Click on Control Panel.
  4. Once the Control Panel has appeared, double-click on the Add/Remove Programs icon.
  5. Remove each of the following products one at a time, rebooting the computer when prompted:
    • McAfee Privacy Service
    • McAfee Personal Firewall Plus
    • McAfee SpamKiller
    • McAfee VirusScan
    • McAfee SecurityCenter
*straight from mcafee.com itself*

You may have to boot into Safe Mode before Add/Remove will remove McAfee from your machine. Other posts have reported that problem but Safe Mode was the work-around.

Scottatah-

If the only feature of McAfee which I chose to retain is the virus scan (Privacy service and firewall have been previously uninstalled), then should the security center be uninstalled?  Reason I ask is, since uninstalling privacy service and virus scan, I have reinstalled virus scan only and cannot access IE or my email service provider (MSN) unless I first reboot, which is OK, but inconvenient.  Short question is:  Does the virus scan alone feature require the security center?  Should i uninstall both and reinstall virus scan only?  Does security center automatically load with ANY feature of McAfee? I've written to McAfee tech support, but rec'd no response.
