Help re-installing OS to remove a virus

Question

I have re-installed my system software many times (with & without a partician) but the virus stays. At no time during the re-install's has it ever asked for the Windows XP product code. A couple years ago, Dell Tech Support walked me through a couple re-installs that I had to type in the product code. I would use that method to try removing the virus but I can't remember how to do it.  Do you know how? Do you think it will get rid of the virus? After each re-install of only factory CD software, I connect to the internet, through my cable modem, and in a few minuets my norton antivirus says it's trying to scan outgoing email. But it can't send them because my e-mail hadn't  been setup yet. BTW where did the virus get the outgoing email addresses? Please help if you can. Thank you, Shane

Thanks for the video. That is how I done it. I guess It might help if I fill the HD up with with junk, immediately after a re-install, as a way of deleting or overwriting anything on it including a virus.

I just wanted to explain on how to put the video in your thread. When you go to add it, it just shows as View and the url. Video shows after you click post
