An Internet search turned up no information about a file with that name. It is possible that it is associated with spyware. If you do not already do so, download and run either Ad-aware from
here and/or Spybot from
here. Check for updates with either program before running them.
If that does not resolve the problem go to Start|Run, type
msconfig and click OK. On the Startup tab see if there is a listing which includes C:\Windows\system32\stlbdlst.DLL and if there is, uncheck it.
Thanks much for the tip! (FYI I can't read my own writing, actual error message was error loading C:\WINDOWS\System32\stlbdist.DLL) I had already downloaded and run Spybot S&D prior to posting message, but tried Ad-Aware6, which seems to have done the trick.
