HELP - Trouble installing MyDVD Studio on Dell machine running Windows x64
I just received my Dell Precision 380 running Windows XP x64. I chose the software package from dell that included the Sonic DigitalMedia Plus v7. When I recieved my machine that software was installed and running fine on my 64bit machine. I also have the Sonic MyDVD Studio deluxe Suite V6.1 software and I tried to install that as well. I have the latest version of the software but it would not install on x64. MyDVD is a software option on the Dell site as well so I am almost sure that this will work with the correct configuration help.
I called Sonic support to ask about it and they told me that neither MyDVD nor DigitalMedia Plus V7 will run on x64 bit. Since I have Sonic DigitalMedia v7 already running on x64bit I know that is NOT true. So My "Guess" is that since Dell offers MyDVD as on option that it will work too.
If there is a solution to this issue please let me know!!!!
Steps taken so far:
From the main MyDVD Studio Deluxe Suite installer I tried to install and doing so yeilds the error message "This program does not support the Operating system detected" then the installation program ends.
I then tried to go to the sub directory just for MyDVD 6.1 and run the installation routine from there. When doing so I get the following errors:
"MsiDatabaseOpenView() return 0000064f" in an error dialog box with the only option being "OK". After selecting OK the installation process continues for a bit and then throws a registry access error "Could not write value Language to key \software\Sonic\MyDVD\Preferences. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel." At that point I cancel the installation
