Help with movie maker

Can someone help me with Movie Maker.  I have followed the tutorial, however the nagivation does not take me to the same screens that it says it will.
 
I have home video clips already on disk that I would like to save to file, yet I can not figure out the nagivation. 
 
When I go into movie maker and click on file I want to got to "save movie file" yet it is not hi-lited and I can't open it. 
 
Where am I going wrong?

Thanks for responding so quickly!  But no, it won't work to use the capture.  I tried it anyway and it won't work as I already have the video on DVD and need to import it into collections, however I can't get it to work.

perhaps this will be of help.. although its fo a vcr the same steps apply .
