Hi New to the board getting error message

Hi All,

My name is Irene and I am new to the board.  I was hoping someone could help me with my problem...

I have Earthlink as my e-mail provider, but when I try to access my earthlink total access mailbox, I am getting this error message:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Program:C:/Program Files/Earthlink Total Access/mailclnt.exe

abnormal program termination

Then when I click ok, I get:

mailclnt.exe-Application error

the instruction at "ox77f5b2ab" reference memeber at

0x01400814

the memory could not be read

click to terminate program

I called earthlink and they said it was a microsoft problem...has anyone seen this before and is there a solution?

Thank you in advance for your help, I hope I'm able to provide help to you all down the line.

Warm regards,

Irene

Here are somethings you might try

Run the system file checker (sfc).  Use help from the start menu and search for sfc

Make sure all critical patches have been installed.  P.S. The problem is Earthlinks, they, not Microsoft wrote the code for the Earthlink Total Acess Mailbox.  The fact the the crash occurred in a Microsoft Runtime library is irrevelant.

Try to uninstall the Total Access garbage, then setup your Outlook Express for your Earthlink Pop3 mail account (if necessary) and try again.

I have Earthlink and never use Total Access.

Thank you so much Phil and MS for your input.  I had trouble finding the file system checkup, so I uninstalled the total access.

Phil did you have problems with total access at one point as well?

I appreciate the help!

I never did install Total Access, but on another forum I have seen reports of others who have had problems with it.  Did uninstalling it solve your problem?
