Hijacked browser?

Hi,

It seems like my IE 6 browser was hijacked and I can't fix it.  My start page keeps changing to some unwanted site.  I reset it to "Default" (dellnet).  I also deleted the offending registry key HKLM>software>microsoft>internet explorer>main>start page.  It is then fine all day, but the next day it is back to the hijacked homepage (along with the registry key).  Are there other registry keys that must be deleted or any other files that must be found and deleted to eliminate this unwanted action?  Thanks in advance

Try AdAware and Spybot to see if that helps.

The suggestion to install and run Ad-aware and Spybot Search & Destroy is a solid one.  http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

http://www.safer-networking.org/

These programs will remove most spyware problems.  Make sure you update the software of both programs prior to running them, and also to restart your computer between running them.  If that does not fix the problem, view this information, and follow the instructions.  http://tomcoyote.com/hjt/  You may post the HJT log at the site suggested in that link, or you can also post here if your prefer.

Those are good suggestions.  BTW what is the HJT log?

Thanks Denny,

I did figure that out and posted there, as well!

amajamar,

You misunderstood pskelley's reference. When he said you could post it here he added a link. He meant you can post it here. The HJT gurus work that conference and it is unlikely they would see your log in this one.

Thanks in advance.
