Hive file problem
I have a optiplex gx400 that gets into a loop saying, Cannot load the hive file: /stsemroot/system32/config/SECURITY...might be corrupt blah blah....
Now I have been seching and most problems say SYSTEM instead of security which confused me. Is there anything I can do? I have tried doing a repair, but on help. I have read renaming system to system.old or something, but I dont know if that will work (replacing system with security). If anyone has any idea it would a big help, thanks!

First, find out why. Boot the Dell diagnostics CD and do a thorough test of the hard drive. If it fails, replace it.
If it passes, you're likely going to be faced with a format/reinstall.
