Home network using XP Pro and XP Home
Can I set up an network between 2 boxes if one is running Pro and the other is run Home.

Yes! For that matter either computer can be Windows XP Home or Pro and the other computer can be Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000, XP Home, or XP Pro. Just click on Start|Help and Support. Type walkthrough in the Search box and press Enter. Walkthrough: Home Networking will be the last choice on the menu of articles in the left pane.
