How Do I Get OS Software From Dell??

I just got a Dell Optiplex GX270 from my workplace as it was shutting down. It didn't come with any system software CD's. There is a sticker on the side with the XP Professional serial number. How do I go about getting the disks - if I even can?? Thanks

If this does not work for you since you are from the U.K. than just call customer service and they should do it as well.

Below is from another thread on the same subject on how to get another OS CD if you live in the U.K.

"Calla Lily and SR45,

Thanks for your replies ... I had tried the web site link, but it's limited to US addresses. I e-mailed UK tech support and there is a CD pack on the way to me" ...

Thank you. I am actually in Canada but using that link I was able to locate the info on the Canadian site. I just wasn't asking the right questioon when I was trying to search for it.

Is there a place where an ISO of the discs can be downloaded?

A ISO file is an image of the contents of a storage medium, such as a CD or DVD. What makes an ISO image different from simply copying all of the files off of a disc?  An ISO image contains more than just your files. In addition to plain old user files, an ISO image also contains all of the invisible system data that tells a computer how to interact with the contents of that disc. Imagine laying out every single piece of data on a disc and snapping a picture (image) of it — that is what an ISO file is, an complete copy of the contents of a disc from start to finish.

Sorry, I am not familiar with doing this even if possible from a Dell OEM Disk.  Others will weigh in hopefully

Opening .ISO files

Alcohol 120% is a software package that can open up ISO images as if they were regular drives. It also burns CDs and DVDs, as well as create new ISO images from discs.

ImgBurn is another piece of Windows software that can burn discs from ISO image files.

thanx for the definition...

I have ordered the discs but I really just need them fairly quickly.

There is an old freeware that I still use to create ISOs and it's called WINIMAGE.  I'm sure there are better apps out there like Nero perhaps but this one is just painless and quick.

it looks like its available to those who can provide a valid service tag number.  I guess we'll see in a couple days if mine comes in.

Hi
You may not be able to get them because it may have been issued with a volume
license to the company .
Your only option may be to buy XP Retail or OEM
.Good Luck
Never mind this i see you are on your way posted to late!!!
