How Do I Get to DOS prompt?

I have a 4500s and it appears that it's been hijacked.  My kids spend a lot of time on the internet downloading free games.   I can't access any programs; the system is at a stand still.  I was wondering if there was a way to get to the restore program by way of the dos menu.

Any other suggestions?

Since there really isn't any DOS in XP, your best bet would be to boot to Safe Mode and see if you can run System Restore from there.

Start the System Restore tool at a command prompt
1.Restart your computer, and then press F8 during the initial startup to start your computer in Safe Mode with a command prompt.

2.Log on to your computer with an administrator account or with an account that has administrator credentials if needed.

3.Type the following command at a command prompt,

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

and then press ENTER

4.Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to restore your computer to an earlier state.
