hi

You can not make Itunes compatible with Windows vista

You just have to wait for apple to come out with the new

the current version of Apple iTunes (version 6 and 7) does not work with Vista.

however, here's a workaround for the Vista users; this was shared with me by a tech support at Dell on Call:

If you do a search for Version 5 of Apple iTunes software:
I found this link for download, apparently it is available:

download version 5 and the upgrade to new version.  the guy at Dell-on-Call told me this will make iTunes work on Vista... better yet, if Version 5 works as standalone on Vista, then don't upgrade to Ver 6 or 7 ... keep using it and check apple site for the next version that we all hope will be compatible with Vista.

Peace

People... not everyone is having trouble with iTunes. I ran 7.0.3 on Vista ever since I got my Vista Home Premium laptop without any problems. The only thing I do, forewarned, is eject my Shuffle using iTunes rather than Windows. I just installed the new iTunes 7.1 which also works well. Only some Vista installations have problems, the majority work OK if you use the iTunes disconnect for the iPod.

Wow!  Some work & some don't.

I just got a new Dell with VISTA Home Premium, and an iPod.  I don't know if iTunes works or not.  After downloading iTunes, and trying to install it, I get the welcome window, the agreement window, etc..  Then I get a 'Windows Installer' notice saying "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation."  when I click OK the notice disappears and nothing else happens.  It does not ask for an administrators password.  It's my computer and I'm the administrator.  How do I change the policy to allow the installation?
