How do I set up a floppy image, without floppy drive, to create a bootable CD?

So, I need to update the firmware on the hard disk, which requires booting off a floppy--sorry, no floppy drive--or off a CD that emulates a floppy, which I think would have an El Torito format. As I understand it, I need to set up a floppy image on the hard drive, including the pertinent files, and then use that image to create the bootable CD in RecordNow!, or whatever. This is confusing enough, all the more so because Dell confuses a floppy-emulating CD with a CD-enabling floppy.

In any case, what's the easiest way to set up that floppy image on the hard drive without a floppy drive? Please just refer me to an article or message, if any; I'd think there must be one out there, but I haven't found it yet.

Thanks,
Drew

Here is a link that describes howto without going into many details.
However, some flash-utilities want to save the orginal BIOS first,
before they will advance to update the BIOS. In this case you still would need a
floppy where the flash-program can save to.

Hi Romeo,

I'm afraid I don't see the link in your message. Is it just me?

Thanks,

Drew
