How do you clear Inline AutoComplete?
Trying to clear the URL history, I have come across the problem that some URLs and folder histories will not be deleted. I have tried many of the programs out there, and none of them are working so far.
I turned off AutoComplete, from the internet options content tab, but these URLs and folders would still come up. I then unchecked the Inline AutoComplete box from the advanced tab, and now this information doesn't come up when I type a URL or a folder into the address bar.
Would anyone be able to tell me how to clear the history used for Inline AutoComplete? If so, thank you very much, I really appreciate it.

Clearing my history deleted some of the URLs from the address bar, but others were still there, after deleting the history, cache, cookies, and temporary files, and even the URL history using various programs I downloaded.
I don't know why I can't figure out how to delete these URLs, but nothing seems to be working.
Thanks.

Just to be sure you are using IE and not MSN 8 or 9? MSN does use a different method to clear the address bar.

I did all of that, on internet options going to the content tab and clicking on autocomplete, then unchecking all of them and clearing the forms.
On the advanced tab, I unchecked "Use Inline AutoComplete," and that's the only thing that stopped the URLs from coming up, but it did not delete them.
I used downloaded programs too, all of which claim that they delete the URL history and AutoComplete history, but none of which did the job.

Yeah, I'm using Internet Explorer, and I went through the internet options and none have worked.
Thanks.

Try clearing your History, see if that works. Kip

If you are trying to remove the URLs that appear in the Address line of IE, open the registry editor (Start|Run, enter regedit and OK) then go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLS. Delete all entries in the right pane except Default.

I have tried this too, but the URLs I can't delete aren't on this list. I haven't found any folder in the registry that has these URLs and folders in it, so I don't know where this information is stored.
The only thing I know is that the only way I could make these URLs not come up as I type into the address bar was by turning off Inline AutoComplete.
Thanks again for all your help.

Hi who,
To delete the History folder and index.dat (XP)
Log on as Administrator and delete the desired USERNAME folder and reboot.
(or log on as another user that has Administrator privileges)
Example: "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\HISTORY"
When you are unable to delete the AutoComplete entries after selecting: Clear Forms
Internet Options | Content [tab] | AutoComplete [button] | Clear Forms [button]
Use the above method to delete the History folder as the AutoComplete entries are actually stored in the hidden History\index.dat file. (also applies to IE 6)
Hope this helps,
MW

Hi,
I'm having the same problem - tried the above solution but it hasn't worked. Any other suggestions?
Thanks!
