how to fix dos problem
i formatted the hard drive by typing format C: and when that finished i shut down the computer and put in boot disk for win98 and then when the a: prompt came up i typed setup and now i noticed that there is a second hard drive and when i click on the shut down button a box comes up that has three options restart shut down and restart in dos when i pick restart in dos a box comes up that says cannot find file c:/win95com what does that mean and how can i fix the computer to format the other hard drive. can anyone send me sstep by step instructions how to fix this computer to reastart in dos i have installed window 98 on one hard drive.

Boot to a DOS prompt with your emergency boot floppy. At the DOS prompt type sys c: and press . That will copy the system files to your hard disk. (This would have been done automatically if instead of entering format c: you had entered format c: /s.

If you are simply trying to format the second hard disk that does not have Windows 98 installed on it, right-click its icon in Windows Explorer and select "Format" from the context menu. You only need to format a hard disk using an emergency boot diskette if you are formatting the disk (partition) that has the operating system installed on it.
