How to get a XP professional Disk #2
As a follow up to my post bellow(Help! Which version of XP do I have), since I am a licensed owner of XP, how do I get a copy of XP professional Disk #2, since Dell did not provide me with one. Please read my post bellow to see the details of my problem. Will Microsoft send me one if I call them and give them my registration number?

Pharkas,
Check this out and see what you think:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q263499/
If you research this on the internet, several people are adamant that it works for XP as well as Windows 2000.
Good Luck,

There is no need to start a second thread for the same problem . . Windows Media Center is XP Professional with the Media Center overlay and some networking capabilities disabled.
When it asks for the second cd, browse to the I386 folder on the C: drive if it is there, otherwise point it to the I386 folder on the DVD.
Some of the MCE discs were faulty and Dell will replace if you ask for a new one . . see the FAQ's at the top of this forum

Pharkas,
Maybe this will work?
If you are prompted to insert your XP Disk 2, point the program at the file on the disk /cmpnents/mediactr/i386/mediactr.cab
If you try it, let us know.

NJ,
Looks interesting. I'll give it a shot and post back.

The solution in the other thread was to request a replacement MCE DVD from Dell.

NJ,
I tried the Win 2000 resolution and the local logg-on access was allready disabled. I ran sfc again and it still asked for XP professional cd2 and rejected my Dell XP Media Center Edition Reinstallation dvd.

I second RoHe's suggestion... give him the vote!
Sorry you had to ultimately go that route though.
