I have the Roxio CD creator 5 Basic. It came with my Dell computer 3 years ago.. so I guess it's not the best in the world....

Really appreciate your answer..

Which version of Roxio do you have?  I use the Dell packaged version: Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Basic. Here's how it works:

Start the Roxio Project Selector and choose Make a Data CD | Data CD Project. In the upper part of the window, navigate to the folder you want on the CR and highlight it.  Now  click the Add arrow on the bar in the middle of the window. Your folder and contents should appear in the lower sections of the window.

Put a new CD-R in your drive (unformatted). Click 'Record' and accept the default options in the following window.  The CD should now start recording.

When it's done, it should be readable on most CD drives.

Yes, it's not the latest + greatest, but it works....

If you search the Dell downloads for Roxio, you may find an update for the version that shipped with your notebook -- worth installing if so.

I have no idea how to do that ! I worked at the local high school in admin and all the softwear was the boards, so basically you used the proramme and that was that. However since retirement I am very willing to learn...My usual "system" is if I want to learn something I do it over and over from instructions until I am able to do what is required. Taught myself how to load my digital camera, send films for processing. Not bad for an old broad :) Can you let me know please.

cheers

It's pretty straightforward.

Here's a link to the update I was talking about:

Download that file and then simply run it and follow the prompts. Job done!

And by the way, sounds as if you're way ahead of me with your digital camera -- I have to get my kids to do mine....

Hello again;

Thank you so much..... plan to try it later today. When I loaded the digital camera I just kept reading the screen and was elated when it worked..... Think the name of the game in this is patience.

Again, thank you.

Will let you know how I get along.

:)

You  can also use the XP cd burning appliation . . right click on the files you want to burn, select Send To, navigate to your cd/rw drive.  A baloon will pop up saying that you have files to burn . . click on it and select Burn these files to c d.

The cd will be usable on all cd drives

Yes, of course you're right -- but I have found that the XP CD burner isn't reliable with very large files.

Could be that it's the combination of XP and my Toshiba CD-RW/DVD combo which gives me problems. In any case, if I use XP to burn the CD, anything over about 60MB fails to complete: it writes the file but doesn't close it properly, so that it is unusable.  However,  I have to confess that since Roxio works perfectly, I haven't spent a vast amount of time trying to figure out how to get the XP burner working properly. ;)

Hello there;

I did what you suggested with the roxio and it worked.... thank you. If you are in the US of A... Happy 4th of July.

In future, instead of spending hours trying to work out "stuff" I shall use this forum....
