How to Reformat win 98
My neighbor is having big problems with her Gateway win98 computer. It started with this program she got for xmas and it did havic to her computer. It is called system mechanic. I tried uninstalling it, but created more problems. All of her window components are gone.
So she is ready to do a complete format of the drive, and then reinstall the win98 with her original win98 cd.
Any help is appriciated, plus step by step if you can, because I am no computer whiz either. Just know somewhat about them.

Instructions are here and in the links provided. You should not need to FDISK the system unless you wish different partitions. Just do the FORMAT and then reinstall Win98. The instructions tell you that for formatting you should enter format x: at the DOS prompt (where x: is the partition you are formatting). A better command is format x: /s (space before the partition letter and before the /s) which transfers the system files to the hard disk during the formatting.
