how to remove deleted/moved emails from outlook inbox?

Hi,
When i move or delete an email from my outlook 2007 inbox the email remains visable in the inbox (it appears grey with a line through it). Can anyone tell me how to remove these emails from view?

This is currently a glitch in Windows Mail, which will hopefully be resolved by Service Pack 1.
In the meantime, try the following steps:

  1. Click Start (Pearl)
  2. Click Search on the right side of the Start menu.
  3. In the top right corner, you will see the search box.  Type mail.
  4. You should see several results, including your Inbox folder.
  5. Double click the Inbox folder.
  6. Inside the Inbox folder, you will find Windows Mail E-Mail Messages.  They will have names of something like 52D05176-A989E695
  7. Double click to open each of those Windows Mail E-Mail Messages to see if the e-mail you want to delete is listed there.   If it is, delete it from the search results box.
  8. Reboot.
  9. Then open Windows Mail and see if it is gone from the Inbox.

If it is not gone after doing that, you might have to delete the entire Inbox folder.  Essentially, follow steps 1-4 above and then just delete the Inbox folder, empty the recycling bin, and then reboot.  The next time you open Windows Mail, the Inbox will be re-created automatically.  It is important to know that if you delete the Inbox folder any e-mails and sub-folders that are in the Inbox will be deleted, so if you have e-mails you need to keep, back them up.

This happens when you are using IMAP mail & MS Exchange. Try selecting Purge Deleted Items from the menu, if it's there. You also might want to post in the MS Office forum for more help.
