hpcmpmgr.exe

What is the function of hpcmpmgr.exe?  Every time I shutdown, the computer trys to shut it down and I have to end the task.  Can I delete this program?

HP almost always means Hewlitt Packard and your HP printer/camera software. Go to Run, type in msconfig and see if it's starting up at boot, If so, uncheck it. You might be able to disable it in the software program itself.

Thanks for the info.  This explains why I should disable it since I am not using my HP Printer any more.

Here's a link that explains this file.  I found it by doing a seach on the file name using google.

hpcmpmgr.exe is the Hewlett Packard comoponent manager. You should check the documentation that came with your Hewlett Packard printer to see what the function of this program is and/or whether or not is necessary to run from startup. You might want to check the HP web site.

Thanks Mary.  It was starting at startup.  I will now reboot and see if it stops my problem.

best thing to do is download HPs complete uninstaller from their website. It'll get rid of all stray components that you no longer need. Disabling it is fine but its better yet to just get rid of it.
