Standby is known to cause many and varied problems on PC's on wakeup.  Some of the reported problems have been audio, video, printing, internet connectivity, keyboard non responsive, programs not working correctly, etc.

The general concensus, including a posting by a Dell moderator, is to not use standby, especially on a desktop.  Standby was designed for laptops to conserve battery power.  On a desktop, the general agreement is to only "power off" the monitor and hard drive(s) at whatever time interval you want.

If you want to continue using standby you will have to put up with whatever problems arise.
