i have a problem with dell quickset

ok i have a dell/insperon xps generation 2 laptop. i used quickset with xp to change my lights on my speakers back panel and side fans. i got quickset back from my friend who has the same laptop, but now i have windows vista home premium installed. so i go to quickset but i cannot change any of my lights. i also got this light effect thingy from dell, but i still cant change the lights. they are still the same colors i had them set when i had xp professional. some please help me so i can change them again.
