I need help.
Ok, to start my cousin deleted EVERYTHING from her computer so it wont turn on, can some1 help me fix her computer? First of all i have no clue what CD to install first and how to do, i couldnt find it in the manual. Luckily they kept all the CD's that came with the computer, right now on the screen it says:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM
Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair
Can someone please help me?

The fix for that particular error is here. The CD to use is either the one here or the one here.
That repair is not always successful, so if it fails you can use that CD to reinstall XP as described here.

It sound like everything is gone. If system restore can't retrieve it you may want to reformat and start over since you have all your installation discs. I'm fairly new at this but just did a reformat with XP and my computer is running a lot smoother and faster. Hopefully, someone with more experience than me will give you an opinion before you give up.
Good luck.

If you can't access the Recovery Console you cannot perform the repair and your only option is to reinstall Windows, as described in the second link in my earlier post. There is no capability of doing any backup from Windows but you may be able to salvage something with the program here.
To do the reinstallation don't rely on F12 which does not seem to be working. Modify the BIOS as detailed in my reinstallation link.
