Maybe I didn't explain my issue well enough: I'm fully aware the camera can't run with the power to the computer being off, thanks for the stupid answer there. Just as I am also aware that I can password protect my computer. God, is the Dell forum only for people that won the Captain Obvious award in high school? Tell me then, what's the advantage of having motion detect recording with the option of recording video covertly with the webcam light off? It would seem to me that someone intended it to be used to capture people doing what they shouldn't be, not cats, who don't care if the light is on or off.
My question, again, was how do I set the program to run when the computer is turned ON? The program can be put in the startup folder so it would be logical to assume the ability to have the record part of the program start automatically would also be possible. You can't tell me every third-party vendor on download.com can do it, but Dell isn't smart enough.
Yes. It is a completely stupid answer to say the camera can't record without the computer being on. The other part of that is if you had read the original question and comprehended what I wrote, you never would have put that answer. Perhaps you should stay off English forums since it clearly isn't your native language.
OBVIOUSLY the camera isn't going to record with the computer off. The problem here is I NEVER ASKED HOW TO GET IT TO RECORD WITH THE COMPUTER OFF. So once again you win the award for stupid answers. You know what, you're obviously unfamiliar with the Windows startup folder, you should probably stop talking.

The camera cannot run if the computer is off. You best bet to keep others out is to password protect your system
