I run XP on Dimension 4600 - booting error - question
Hi,
I run XP, not sure what version, Dimension 4600 computer. Installed Norton 360 less than a week ago and it created nothing but problems. I uninstalled through "Add or Remove Programs". But now I'm having booting problems. Sometimes it boots ok on restart. Sometimes it goes to blinking cursor. On initial Dell screen, I have option of F2 or F12. When I pressed F12 the other day I had some options and was able to get to Windows. However today, when I restarted it did nothing, then gave me a keyboard error, when I hit Control,Alt,Delete. Then I got the message, "previous attempts at booting this system have failed at checkpoint {USBd}. I did nothing but a few minutes later, Windows came up. I'm afraid to shut down my computer. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have printed out the Tech Page " Using Microsoft System Config Utility to Troubleshoot Errors During Startup In XP", but I haven't done this yet.
Thanks.
Carolyn

Hey,
first of all backup your data before shut down your computer.
After backup download the norton removal tool for clean deinstall of all symantec products.

normaly that fix the issues.
