I7K installed XP with dual boot win98 caused mouse problem

Hello,           I installed XP on my Inspiron 7000 on a separate partition so I could dual boot either 98 or XP.  Everything seemed to install fine.  However, when I boot 98, my USB mouse behaves erratically.  I tried using the device manager to remove it, but that didn't help.  The touchpad works fine.  The mouse works fine on XP.   I suspect that the boot loader is somehow messing up how win98 reads the mouse position.  The buttons seem fine.   Does anyone out there know how to fix this?   Thanks.

You probably need a Win98 mouse driver.  Check the MS site and see if they have a Win98 driver.  A 'generic' driver or even one for another mouse will probably work.

I already had the 98 drivers.  I was running 98 just fine before I added XP in a separate partition.
