IEXPLORER.EXE issue

Help!!!  Every time I go to shutdown my PC, I get a message that IEXPLORER.EXE is still running and I must wait for this popup box to give me the option to End Task (sometimes this happens twice).  Does anyone know what is causing this to happen and what I can do to fix?  I don't remember this happening when I first got this PC a few months ago.
Thanks in advance for any help!!!

Viva Las Vegas,

Please confirm that IEXPLORER.EXE is the name of the program that's still running, and not IEXPLORE.EXE, which is the Microsoft Internet Explorer. IEXPLORER.EXE is a known Internet Worm, according to this article from McAfee. According to the article, McAfee's current definitions can remove this intruder. Check to be sure your antivirus software is up to date, scan your machine and see if it will remove this worm.

Sorry about that, it was late when I was typing that post.  It is IEXPLORE.EXE.  I know 100% that this didn't occur for the first few months of owning this PC.  Any help would be appreciated as I am concerned something is wrong with this PC.

Viva Las Vegas,

There could still be viruses or malware causing the problem.

First, make sure your antivirus software definitions are current, and scan your system for viruses. If that doesn't resolve the problem, follow the directions for downloading and running Ad-Aware and Spybot posted at the Gladiator Security Forum.

If you aren't able to resolve the problem using Ad-Aware and Spybot, download HijackThis, a malware analysis and repair tool described in the link listed above.

You can register and post your HijackThis log at the Gladiator Security Forum, or one of the sites listed below:

Subratam.org
BleepingComputer.com
ZerosRealm.com

There's been a renewal of successful malware cleanups in the Dell Forums Virus/Spyware Information and Removal board. You may want to post your HijackThis log in that board.

Copy and paste the contents of the log you saved in a new message in one of the forums listed above. Be sure to describe the problem you're experiencing. DON'T ATTEMPT TO FIX ANYTHING REPORTED BY HIJACKTHIS without expert advice!

There are lots more people with malware problems they haven't been able to resolve than there are expert HijackThis analysts, so please be patient. Please see the Alliance of Security Analysis Professionals (ASAP) site for a complete list of member sites providing support and assistance.
