inspiron 2650, problems after installing sp2
I installed SP2 into an inspiron 2650 and some problems began!!!
The laptop now is slower than before, but the biggest problem is that I CAN`T open any windows aplications programs (like control panel, windows explorer...).
When I click the application I need to run, the cursor stays quiet for a while and then disapears all the desktop icons for a moment, then appears again and sometimes appears that "drwtsn32.exe found a problem and must close".
Some aplications I have been installed run OK!.
The problems began after I installed SP2.
Could someone help me?
(I have XP home edition installed in my laptop. I downloaded the SP2, I didn`t installed it from a CD)
Thanks.:smileysad:

First step is to uninstall it.
Since you cannot access the Control Panel, you can try one of the other options here in this article:

You told me "the first step is uninstall SP2"...
Is there second step?

The second step would be to ensure your machine is "SP2 Ready". You should check with DELL to see if there are any updates that need applying before SP2 is installed.
Then, look through the links on this page http://www.windowstalk.org/sp2.htm under "Before you install SP2" to check all other aspects of your current XP installation.

After you find out if your system is SP-2 ready, Microsoft suggests strongly that you download and use a spyware program, run it, than install SP-2.
What I did is to eliminate all possible mess ups by reformting and reinstalling windows, than installed SP-2, installed my ChipSet driver, installed my video card driver, than everything else and low and behold, everything works very well and is faster for some unknown reason...Its up to you..
Edited by me : I hope you have at least 512 mb of memory on that notebook. Windows likes 512, and if you are using the integrated video, which will take away more memory that you now have on your system, ( Takes between 32 and 64 mb from the main memory ) it will make things slower
