inspiron 5680 keyboard initialization failure

Recently installed a window update to my computer through the "update and shutdown" button, and ever since it has broken my keyboard initialization routine. When booting up, it flashes up with the Dell Support Assist screen informing me "alert! Keyboard initialization failure" options are "continue" pc boots as normal with no keyboard function

"BIOS settings" pc boots as normal with no keyboard function

"Diagnosis" where it runs some simple tests for 3 minutes, determines there's no problem, asks if I want to perform more memory tests. A yes wastes another 3 hours for a "everything's fine" at the end.

The failure screen appears before you can enter BIOS, preventing looking in that, desktop reachable from on screen keyboard

And it appears I just accidentally disabled the drivers for my mouse, is there anything I can do with my expensive box or is it gone now?
