Installation issues

I'm trying to reinstall the Smart Panel for Epson RX 500 printer, and I have the error message that says:

"An installation support file ''C:\Program Files\Common
Files\InstallShield\engine\6\Intel32\iKernel.exe'' could not be installed.
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect."

I've contacted Epson, and I quote their reply:

"The installer is looking for a file for the InstallShield Wizard. This
issue is with that program specifically. The best way to deal with this
issue is to contact Installshield to see if an update is available for the
wizard."

I've contacted Installshield and submitted the error message and a screenshot. They don't respond, but I'm hoping they will come up with an updated installer for the Smart Panel.

Suggestions?

No, I've not bought Installshield. You are correct in saying that I should go back to Epson and tell them that.

I've installed an updated engine, I've upgraded the printer's drivers, I've used a registry cleaner to get Smart Panel off my computer so I can reinstall. I've done everything that I was supposed to from Epson's tech support. I'm beginning to wonder if the software CD itself is defective, as there is one other program that I've not been able to open after installing it as well.

Aggravating.

Assuming that you never bought a copy of InstallShield yourself.  I would go back to Epson, and explain that they are responsible not Installshield are responsible.  They, EPSON,  have a business relationship with them not you.  You did not purchase anything from Installshield.  EPSON response is analogous to some software publisher whose software keep failing to blame Microsoft since their program was built using Microsoft's compiler.

Nope, no go. Copied the "Smart Panel" folder to the desktop and tried to launch the installer and STILL had the same error.

So, what's next? It appears that the install wizard for the Smart Panel is broken...
