Installing AutoCAD 2006 on Windows Vista

I am trying to install AutoCad 2006 on windows Vista. but its showing that the program is not capable with windows vista. But as AutoCAD 2006 can be run on windows XP so why it is not running on windos Vista???

Because Autodesk did not patch it to be compatible with Vista.... Blame Autodesk. Have you tried running the installer in compatability mode for XP SP2?

I had 2006 on my laptop before I upgraded from XP to Vista, so I didn't have your exact same problem.  But, once installed, 2006 should run if you set it up to run in XP SP2 compatibility mode.  You will get the User Acct Control window pop-up whenever you start the program, but other than that it seems to work OK.  From what I can tell from the Autodesk forums, they are not planning to patch 2006.  They are planning to patch, and may already have done so, 2007.  2008 is the first fully Vista supported version.  This is the downside to moving to a new OS as it can impact some rather expensive software.
