Internet connection loss
I will loose internet connection quite often. I will then have to restart the computer and every thing comes back. I have a Dell 4550 with XP, 512 memory, 2.4 533 bus. For connecting to the internet I use Charter Pipeline with a D-Link Modem and I also have a Linksys wireless router, with this computer connected by ethernet cable. I do not have the problem with my older dell and Win 98 (about the only problem I do not have with win 98). Could this be something with XP?
Thank you!

I am having the same exact problem as you. Have you had any luck figuring it out?

This was a while ago, but I am pretty sure the problem was with the Firewall. I had McAFee with all the bells and whistles. I was informed the router is a firewall, therefore get rid of the software or at least disable that portion of it. I removed the program completely and have not had the problem since. I did get McAFee virus protection and that is running with no problems. Hope this helps, if not try one of the other boards that deals with routers and search there, I posted at some other board and found my answer.

I have ZoneAlarm and turned it off last night to try it. I'll know by the time I get home (1:00pm eastern) and will let you know. thanks.

Just to let you know, turning off ZoneAlarm fixed my problem also. Thank you... that has been bugging me for months and I couldn't find a clue.
