Do you have your own firewall,anti-virus programme or are you running the XP2 firewall? If you do have your own programme switch off the security centre of SP2 by disabling the firewall and the virus checker. This could be causing the conflict.

Don't feel too bad; the same thing has happened to me a few times!

Thanks for the reply. Actually verizon DSL was down in my area the afternoon I was attempting to logon and that was what was causing my problem (I found out the next day). I just knew that SP2 seemed to be causing alot of problems for people and I didn't know if it was possible that it might be causing this problem as well. But apparently it wasn't the cause.

Thanks for the replies! :)

I've actually been pretty pleased with my computer preformance since loading SP2. I
had one system shutdown, but I didn't lose any info and it hasn't happened again. I like the popup blocker, I never had that before and I like having extra protection with the firewall and such.....I never made any changes to my mcafee programs and so far there's been no interference between the two. I've had no problems with windows or any of my regular programs. I didn't update anything before installing SP2...I actually downloaded it by accident during an automatic upgrade (I wasn't paying much attention as to what was being upgraded). I wasn't going to install it because a guy I work with has had crazy problems when he installed it and I wasn't going to bother. But so far no problems so I'm glad I did.
Well thanks again, I know that if I do have problems, I'm coming here for answers!
