Internet Explorer does not start

I recently uninstalled some spyware on my Dell Inspiron 8500; after that, I was able to use Microsoft Internet Explorer for awhile before it stopped working.  What happens is that I double-click on the Internet Explorer on the desktop, and the mouse cursor shows that it is working in the background, then nothing.  I've followed the directions on the Microsoft website for adding enabie3.reg to the registry, but it still doesn't work.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

I'm running a Dell Inspiron 8500 with:
2.4

this isn't a fix but a workaround that I've seen work. Rather than double clicking on Internet Explorer on the desktop to start it, right click on the IE icon and select "OPEN". As ridiculous as it sounds I've seen it work for the same problem you're having.
