internet explorer goofing up

Question

aargggg! my internet explorer is messing up. my computer is a brand new dell dimension 3000 with xp sp2. sometimes it will work and other times it won't. when it does work i will get an error message and it says it encountered a problem and must shut down. other times when i try to launch it it doesn't respond. any ideas?     thanks, stratt

it shut down again only saying that internet explorer has encountered a problem and must be shut down.

I am having a similar problem. I reformatted my computer last week with the help of dell tech support. Now when I go to certain sites such as my banks web site internet explorer keeps saying it has encountered a problem adn needs to close. Sorry for the inconveince. I clicked on details before closing the window and this is what it says which I believe is similar to the preious poster here.

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: unknown

ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 85000000

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Both of you appear to be having trouble accessing secure sites. Here is a query I put into the MS Support site with several returns:
