Second: Try to Set the default settings of the IE from Start->Set Program Access and defaults
Third: If this don't work download Tuneup utilities 2004 trial and clean your registry
with it

I hope one of these will fix your problem!

Try looking in the C: Program Files | Internet Explorer folder.

If you see "IEXPLORE.EXE" right click on it and select "Send To..." "Desktop as a shortcut".

Later, Conrad

With XP, Internet Explorer is heavily integrated with the operating system. It should not even be listed in Add/Remove Programs, so I'm not sure how you "uninstalled" it from there. Since you deleted all IE files and folders, you probably also deleted files which are needed for running Windows XP. Your best bet is to find a system restore point from before you deleted all those files and try to restore to that point, keeping your fingers crossed.

My Internet Explorer That came with my Dimension 2400 as part of Windows XP began to give me some trouble after owning the computer for about 6 months. It wouldn't allow us to enter things like passwords in a webpage. Just came out of the blue. I couldn't fix it, so I thought I would remove the program and start new with it.

Through the "Add/Remove Programs" control panel, I removed it. When I went to download it, it told me I had a previous version on the computer already. I went through the computer and removed every file I could find to do with IE and I still got the same message.

No big deal I am using Mozilla. Now, however I can't use the Quickbooks pro that I just bought, it says I need IE6. And I can't download music.

I have the ie6 setup that I downloaded recently and I've run that a couple of times, it seems to work, and runs it and prompts me to restart, but after that, there is no IE6 on my computer. Don't know what to do.

I guess I need IE6, HELP!!

jsjrmeredith,

You cannot uninstall IE through Add or Remove Programs, all that does is remove the appearance of IE on your computer (note that the entry shows a size of 0K). It's hard to know what you may have removed from your computer by randomly deleting files which seemed to be associated with IE. See if you can reinstall IE using the procedure here.

If not, back up your perishable data and reinstall Windows XP.
