I have a Dell Inspiron 5150 with an internal modem and my ISP is eircom. i use the dial-up internet connection. In the past 2 days when i access the internet i get the following message and a timer that shuts down the whole system within 60 seconds.
"The system is shutting down. Please save any work in progess and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost. This system shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM. MESSAGE - The system process C:/Windows/System32/lsass.exe terminated unexpectidely with status code 1073741819". this system will shutdown and restart"
Whats up with this? I cant use my internet because of this!

Joe,
I am having the exact same message appear. It started while I was online last Sun. and has continued for 9 days....
Have you had any luck resolving the problem?
I would appreciate any advice.

Based on when the symptom you're seeing first appeared, the "Sasser" worm is the likely culprit.
Here's the current link to the Dell article about prevention and removal of Sasser.
Also see the first link listed below - it's a page posted by one of the spyware/malware experts. Note the points made about removal from network may not apply if your system is the only machine on your (home) network. The instructions are to prevent the worm from spreading on local networks.
The Virus Information and Removal board is a good place to get help with problems like this.
