Intranet documents

Hi

I am failing to open documents on a school intranet from home. When I double click on the document link nothing happens, no error message except to say "cvlick on the Back button on your browser to return to contents page", but no text.

I meet all software/hardware requirements but I am not sure where it says

Browser:Client Browser Configuration Guide note:JavaScript and Cookies must be enabled

I am not a computer expert.
