Invalid Directory Name

When trying to backup my harddrive using the Dantz Retrospect HD software, I get a message that the backup was unsuccessful due to a file with "malformed name". I have tracked the problem to the following file {C:\found003\file0000.chk}. When I try to delete or move this file I get the following message:
file is not accessible
The directory name is invalid.
How can I get rid of this file.

PROBLEM SOLVED: Was able to remove the file using the UNLOCKER tool. Free download from http://ccollolmb.free.fr/unlocker/.

These are files generated by chkdsk when it finds lost clusters. In all cases, unless you've lost specific data that you believe you can recover from these files, they are safe to delete. Go here for more details on these files.

Thanks Osprey, now I understand what theses files are, but my problem is that I cannot delete the file in question because the file is "inaccessible" due to the "directory name" being "invalid". I need to find some way around this. I have tried deleting it from the command window, but that failed too.

Try booting in safe mode to a command prompt and use the good old DOS commands to delete them.

Tried that. It didn't work. Apparently, I can see this file, but Windows can't.
