ipconfig / command prompt issues

Question

hello, i'm running xp home on a dell dim 8300 ( brand new). i'm trying to access ipconfig through the command proimpt.  ( start ->  run -> 'ipconfig') when the dos window appears it remains for half a second and then closes.  it does this for any run request. can i adjust this in anyway?  what causes this? please advise. thanks

Hello, Try doing it in this order: Start > Run > ' cmd ' (without quotes) > 'ipconfig' (without quotes) Then it will display the information you want to view just fine.  INTERNET2000
