This is a persmissions restriction that is stopping you from accessing the registry.
What I would do is go to Start > Run > type in "regedit", hit enter and wait until the program loads.
When it does, you will see 5 folders on the left. Right click the first one, "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT".
The click Permissions.
Click Add, then type in the name of your Windows account (your folder name) and click OK
The where it says "Full Control", along the list, tick the box right underneath "Allow".
Click Advanced.
Click the box at the bottom that starts with "Replace".
Click OK twice, and if it asks, "Do you want to replace all..." Just click Yes or OK.
Restart the system and see if it works.
