"A patch should be available via the Sonic Updater Software which resolves the problem. This can be accessed through the Sonic Software or in the Control Panel."
(I don't work for DELL, so if this reply is not satisfactory, please try not to get upset)
Creating software is a very delicate matter. Lots of things can go wrong, and often, a "bug" isn't discovered until it's too late. In this case, it seems whoever wrote the code for Cineplayer thought there were only 11 months in a year (corresponding to Jan. thru Nov.) and the program worked fine during that time. It wasn't until December (month 12) arrived, that the program reacted badly. Apparently, no one had realized (or tested this) in advance.... If they had, presumably the product would have been fixed, or pulled.
The last ETA I've seen was still for sometime today, hopefully that happens on schedule. Please understand that this could always change, we're hoping to get it out to everyone as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience while we work with Sonic to resolve the problem.
i'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, that it was just a "programming error". it happens. to give you another example, Microsoft Money 2001 (or was it 2000??) will refuse to do a cash-flow analysis on Feb. 29th in a leap year. If you change the date, to the day before or after, it works just fine....
Since leap day occurs only once in 4 years, it was clearly an oversight on the part of the programmer.
To code that a year has only 11 months, could have just been a "slippy-finger typo"....
I have changed my date several times and nothing has worked. I do understand about the time this program was made but I just got mine day before yesterday.
Since changing the date worked for Nnixx but not for lavern, let me ask:
what
version number (build number, copyrite date, &etc) of Cineplayer are each of you using?

DELL-Aaron:
Do we have any more information on specifically which versions of Cineplayer are impacted by this problem? Is it all versions? --- or only certain ones?
**************************
Lavern: The problem to be addressed by this "workaround" and eventual patch are for players that start-up properly, but then result in bad/corrupted audio, video, or both.
I've seen some people writing that their player wouldn't even "start-up"... but that would appear to be a separate/different issue. Does your Cineplayer start up properly, but then "fail" when it tries to play a video?
