Is there a setting I'm missing in IE?

The techs at my DSL provider "had no idea" (naturally).

 

When I use the "search box" (Google) on my homepage, all I get is "this page cannot be displayed"---no matter what I type in.  I have a link to Google and when I use the link---I get Google and search works fine.

 

Is there something in IE that is causing this error when I try the homepage search?  Any ideas?

 

My service provider techs speak "English"----but that's about all they can handle!
